7720DT's Versatility Profitable for West Virginia Company
“Since receiving our 7720DT last December, we have seen a dramatic increase in the footage per day for typical Geoprobe® projects,” reports Rod Moore, President of EnviroProbe Integrated Solutions in Cross Lanes, WV. Increased footage per day translates into the ability to contract for more projects and adding income to the cash drawer. “The MC5 and DT325 sampling systems have performed great with this machine! Having the 77-in. stroke and 5-ft. tooling allows for plenty of room under the hammer to get a variety of projects done,” Rod added.
According to Rod, the DH66 Automatic Drop Hammer opened doors to additional geotechnical
services that he was unable to complete with an older model machine. “The drop hammer makes split spoon sampling quick and easy,” Rod said.

One of the best assets of the machine, according to Rod, is the augerhead. “The augerhead is impressive!” Rod stated. With the new 7720DT, EnviroProbe has installed 2-in. monitoring wells using 4.25 in. hollow stem augers (HSA), and 4-in. wells using 6.25 in. HSA. “There seems to be endless power with this unit, and surprisingly, it pulls augers out easier than our full-sized, truck mounted rotary rig,” he said. Always trying to test the rig’s capabilities, Rod reports the completion of downhole rotary air hammer drilling as well as rock coring projects. “We hammered through 25 feet of bedrock with a 6-in. hammer using the 7720DT,” Rod said. “I doubted it would do it,” he said, “but it just keeps surprising me!”
Rod and his wife, Ronda, who owns the company, acquired the company from family, renamed it, and moved the business to Cross Lanes, WV, in March of 2006. EnviroProbe (www.enviroprobeinc.com) specializes in the installation of monitoring/remediation wells, soil and groundwater sampling and remediation, geotechnical services, and the injection of remediation compounds and additives.
